As you enter the spacious lobby, you are greeted by warm lighting that highlights ancient stone statues of Nubian kings and warriors, with strong features and slight smiles that hold the secrets of time.

You feel as if these statues are looking at you, telling you the story of their ancient history.As you wander through the halls, you find yourself in front of an amazing collection of artefacts that show the depth of Nubian civilisation: finely crafted gold jewellery, simple but vibrant everyday tools, and colourful inscriptions and drawings that reflect the Nubian way of life and their proximity to the Nile. In one of the halls, you will find yourself standing in front of a huge statue of ‘Taka,’ with his distinct African features and imposing stature that commands a strong presence.

Climb the stone steps and share in the temple’s first moments as if you were a guest of an ancient civilisation. As you pass through the gate, you are greeted by huge sandstone walls bearing intricate carvings that tell the legend of Mandolis, the Nubian sun god, and his connection to the sun and light. The colours remaining on some of the inscriptions still retain their splendour despite the passage of centuries.

Before you lies a spacious courtyard that opens onto the Hall of Columns. As you walk forward, you notice that the inscriptions combine Nubian and Egyptian styles in a striking way; the lines are clearly Egyptian, but with strong Nubian features, as if the two cultures are engaged in a silent dialogue on the walls. Each engraved scene tells a story: offerings, celebrations, and prayers to the sun.
