Saqqara Half Day Tour

Your personal tour guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to begin one of the most amazing tours from Cairo to Saqqara Necropolis, located approximately 30 kilometers north of the capital where the first known pyramid in history still stands. This is the Djoser Step Pyramid, which represents the evolution of the mastaba tombs until it becomes the perfect-shaped pyramid that we know today, whose secrets are still unknown. It did not gain popularity because it was the first large stone pyramid in ancient Egypt, but rather because it was built using only crude materials like clay bricks.

You can go inside one of the pyramids in Saqqara that do not require an additional ticket, such as the Pyramid of King Teti or the Pyramid of Unas, the last King of the fifth dynasty, and visit one of the Nobles’ Tombs at Saqqara, such as the Tomb of Kagemni.

You will see carvings of various daily life scenes in ancient Egypt, with all of its activities clearly visible, such as harvesting, fishing, hunting, and animal sacrifice scenes, painted in bright colors on the walls and burial chambers of those rock-cut tombs, some of which still retain their original colors.

Continue your Cairo sightseeing excursions by visiting the Museum of Imhotep. The museum is one of numerous halls containing over 500 rare objects excavated from the Saqqara archaeological site. The exhibition contains a model of the Zoser funerary collection, and one of the museum’s galleries is designed to resemble a whole graveyard with a mummy, a wooden coffin, and various clay and ceramic pots.
