Your tour will start from Sharm El Sheikh in the morning towards the port of Nuweiba/ or Taba, where we took a ferry to Jordan, and then continue overland to Petra. Despite the long journey, the excitement made the time fly.
When you get closer to Petra, the pink mountains begin to appear in front of you, in the distinctive color for which the place is famous. We will enter the site by walking through the Siq, a magnificent rocky gorge that cuts through the mountains in an enchanting way. Walking through the Siq was an incredible experience; the rocks rise tens of metres above you, and the light streams through them like gold chains.
Suddenly, indescribably, the treasury appeared in front of you from between the rocks. It is like a cinematic shot. A Nabataean masterpiece completely carved into the mountain, with a huge height and intricate details that would make any visitor stand in awe.
We will continue our tour inside Petra, visiting the Roman Amphitheatre, the baptized street, and a series of royal tombs. Every corner tells the story of a great civilization that lived thousands of years ago. The guide was explaining how Petra was a center of trade and how the Nabataeans were able to carve an entire city out of the mountains.
After the tour, we had some time to sit on a stone bench and watch the city from above. The pink mountains, the fresh air, and the silence mixed with a long history made me feel like I was in another world.
We returned to Sharm El Sheikh at night.
